“The report also highlights rising food insecurity, with 2.5 million children living in food-insecure households. The number of children in severely food-insecure households doubled between 2019 and 2023.”
This is alarming! Yet we have been running large deficits since 2019. What has the Liberal government been spending on?
Generational investments I guess.

I will patiently wait for the reasonable policy outline and tabled bill to follow from the Conservative Party of Canada that will seek to substantively address child poverty. I am sure after 11 years out of power they have gone deep into the causes of, and how to mitigate, child poverty.

I work in education. We feed a vast majority of our students. Every year more and more students are added to the list to provide basic necessities(including winter gear, backpacks, etc) to children coming to school. I spend my own money every school year on boots, mitts, hats, water bottles, indoor shoes, backpacks…. For the growing number of children in need
