Hunderte Menschen haben im Krakauer Stadtteil Kazimierz gegen Pläne protestiert, Bewohner und Unternehmen aus einer Reihe historischer Kirchengebäude zu vertreiben, um sie in ein Luxushotel umzuwandeln.
Die Demonstration vor der Kirche, in der der Orden ansässig ist, dem die drei Mietshäuser gehören, wurde von der örtlichen linken Abgeordneten Daria Gosek-Popiołek mitorganisiert und nahm auch an dem Krakauer Bürgermeister Aleksander Miszalski teil, der versprach, Maßnahmen zu ergreifen.
Demonstranten zeigten Transparente mit der Aufschrift „Nein zur Gentrifizierung“ und „Kazimierz für Einheimische“. Sie erstellten Schein-Todesanzeigen für die zu räumenden Unternehmen, darunter viele der Shabby-Chic-Bars, Boutiquen und Galerien, für die das Viertel bekannt ist, wie zum Beispiel Eszeweria, ein Pub, das ein ikonischer Teil des florierenden Nachtlebens von Kazimierz ist.

This famous institution operated on the principle of plunder. The Church said „give it to me!“, and the authorities gave without a murmur. Land, schools, hospitals. Without the right to vote of the interested parties, without the right to appeal. It does not take any legal culture to immediately notice the thieving construction of this Bolshevik „institution“, which insults all the principles of the rule of law. This monstrous fetus of the dying commune and the hungry church invited embezzlement, and indeed the tip of the iceberg of these frauds, which is revealed by the press, may astonish many a cynic.
