No surprise. Russia is known for committing atrocities against their own soldiers just not at the level of old Soviet Union where Stalin ordered creation of penal battalions known as *Shtrafbat.*

In Anthony Beevor’s Stalingrad it details one Russian unit commander who revived the punishment of „Decimation“ he suspected his unit of sympathy for the German cause so, he lined them up along a roadside and shot 1 in every 10 men in the face

With the Putin régime repressing attempts at independent news coverage, such reports don’t get out to the vast majority of people in Russia.

I wonder what sort of response Ukraine would get if they offered Russian troops a „Send us a geo tagged picture of your shitty officers’s quarters, and we’ll deal with them for you“ deal.

Russians know. It’s not news for them. They simply don’t care about anyone else than themselves.

There is no way Russia can win this war if it’s executing so many of its own soldiers. Not only do they reduce manpower, but they also kill morale and make it more likely that soldiers will desert and surrender to Ukraine if they get an opportunity.
