      It’s not fair to blame Trump, if Putin had given him more successes on the ground to work with he would have been able to convince the Senate to fully betray Ukraine and all in all he’s done a lot to remove US support for Ukraine

      Amid all this, Trump is of no help to Ukraine. The US is continuing sending help set by the previous administration, but the Trump admin is doing nothing new to help.

      What kind of drivel is this? Trump is rapidly destroying the United States as a player on the world stage. It’s hard to imagine how a president could more rapidly dismantle the United States from within making the world friendlier to Russia, then what Trump is actually doing

      Of course, if I were Putin, I would prefer to see articles saying that I was disappointed in the guy (thus trying to pretend that Trump were not one of my assets)

      More accurately, Putin had high hopes that Trump cutting aid would not be replaced by other actors such as Europe. Those hopes absolutely were dashed. So I guess I can accept the headline somewhat.

      I’d be willing to bet good money that every single comment here which furiously denounces the article as servile and white-washing does not have a NYT subscription and is basing their response entirely on the title.

      Imo it’s pretty likely that Russia, Israel, people in the US, and god knows who else have tons of dirt on Trump. It seems vanishingly unlikely you can help launder Russian money into Florida with property deals and while being best friends with the world’s most famous pedo sex trafficker for a decade without leaving plenty of opportunities for powerful people to have dirt on you.

      Especially as Trump is both an idiot and a prolific criminal generally, running scams like his scam university or his scam charity that got him banned from running charities. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Russians aren’t stuck in a position where they’re like: if we were to drop evidence of his crimes at this point, it’s just going to show underscore further how much of a billionaire oligarch scam the whole system is, which wouldn’t be good for Putin anyway.

      Putin got what he hoped out of Trump and more, only it didn’t do what he hoped it would do.

      Predictably, when topic of Trump turns up, no-one discusses the article or thinks critically.

      I think its a good article, that people here wont read before crying, so here are some of the main points:

      1) Pushing Russia out of the middle East
      2) Pushing Peace and influence in Central Asia, sidelining Russia
      3) Attacking Russian allies (Maduro, Cuba, Iran)
      4) Not rengotiating nuclear treaty after Putin asked for it, so to include China

      5)Sanctioned Russan oil firms leadng to drops in price

      6) Pressured India to move away from Russian oil.

      Some of these claims are debateable, but its a good article that you should read before wailing and insulting.

      We’re constantly one small order to the military away from NATO being destroyed. I can’t see how Putin is dissatisfied with how things are going.

      Even if Putin has ‘Kompromat’ on Trump, the Epstein file cover up shows Trump just doesn’t care. He’s got his billions and even if he did face jail time, it would be a gold plated jail with helicopters to go and play golf from, with caviar and champagne on tap.

      Putin made the mistake of thinking that the destabilization of America was made to serve him but no it is made to serve his masters in China.

      we put pressure on Europe we’ve destabilized the world order we have brought doubt into everyone’s minds concerning Taiwan.

      and China’s trade surplus is through the roof because literally all they have to do is sit back and watch us attack our trade partners while they sit there being a perceived stable trade partner.
