Reminder that the Netherlands are just bringing into law a crazy unrealized gains tax, effectively abolishing private savings to escape the inflationary spiral.

Don’t get distracted from the real topics!

You know the country is going through some serious problems when „openly gay“ and „youngest“ are the important bits about a new PM

Shame he’s a heartless, spineless neoliberal who’s already broken all his campaign promises vis a vis affordability and social equality — before his term even began.

For those who wonder how that’s possible: government in NL works by coalition, since it never happens that one party is big enough to form a government by itself. This is great for compromise, which is essential for a small country where everyone historically had to cooperate to keep the water out. However, in recent decades this system has developed the quirk that, while forming a coalition, the governing-parties-to-be will essentially haggle out every detail of the coming term’s policy decisions before the government even comes into power. So we know already what they will try to do over the next (fellow dutchies: let’s be realistic) 12 to 24 months. And it’s austerity, tax cuts for the rich, rising health care costs, everything they promised not to do.

Fuck d66, the party of saying left and acting right since at least 2010.

Peter Thiel is gay too. Judge people by their ideals and actions, not their sexuality.
Because gay people are just people. They can be decent, or they can be absolute shitheads, same as everyone else.

I have to use all my willpower to not make a joke about the Dutch eating their prime ministers and this one tasting fruity.
