  1. The leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Nemesio ‘el Mencho’ Oseguero Cervantes, was killed on Sunday during an operation led by Mexico’s military, according to a government official.

  2. See? When the government wants to do it, they can.

The problem is that they don’t want it often.

    Edit:

My answer was simplistic, It was more directed to the people who claims the government is completely controlled by narco and can’t do anything about it.

Safety in Mexico is not black and white.

  3. And now Guadalajara’s airport is taken over by sicarios and the city is inflames, including a Costco, will FIFA cancel the World Cup here?

  4. Fuck man, I really hope they don’t kill Sheinbaum in retaliation. CJNG is incredibly powerful, both in terms of assassins and in terms of military power.

I can’t help but wonder if this is Mexico’s way of keeping Trump and his militia at bay.

Them getting on the cartels’ bad sides is probably the lesser of two evils; as long as Trump doesn’t have a reason to send the US military, for whatever dumb reason.

  6. This is wild. Dudes been a ghost for decades. What comes after (retaliation, power vacuum, violence, etc) isn’t going to be pretty nonetheless.

This dude has been notorious for a very long time. He basically ran the cartels by being the “head operations” and logistics for decades but with his own cartel in some agreement with other ones. It’s amazing how long this dude stayed alive given how much was on his head.

If you started reading about any cartels in the 2010’s you would quickly find his name. He was pretty mysterious for a long time until his cartel expanded operations after others fell. Seemed untouchable. Fuck this asshole.

As long as it’s Mexico’s own doing then it’s great to see.

    Everyone in Mexico stay safe!

  11. Damn, they actually got El Mencho. That dude was like a ghost for so long, he was like Osama Bin Laden. I never thought they would get him.

It now makes me wonder: was Mexico even trying before? Or was it Trump putting the screws on them that forced them to actually find the guy?

What’s crazy is just a mere 10 minutes from where I grew up here in California, he got his start before becoming a cartel boss. I think he was even deported a few times.
