      I still remember watching that night unfold, watched the whole thing.

      It started off with the presenters believing remain would win and they just got more and more shocked throughout the night.

      Overall, I don’t think it’s aided our country is any obvious way yet I can see a lot of downsides. We spent enough ’negotiating‘ leaving then god knows how many years of membership.

      The same cycle is repeating itself however, we now have immigration higher then when we were in the EU and people keep saying it „wasn’t done properly“ despite Cameron leaving for this exact reason (he campaigns for remain) and having Boris Johnson as prime minister.

      Most of Leave’s points turned out to be false or misleading. And with the current situation in the US we’re alone in a world which is rapidly coalescing to better project power. The EU is in much better shape to weather the storms than we are

      But as the current political climate shows it was never about the facts. People voted based on how they feel and their perception, truth be damned.

      Fundamentally people who died of old age before seeing the repercussions fucked countless people, the same people who rage against mass immigration are responsible for immigration numbers twice as high, as any other year on record. Tory voters and brexit voters have done immense damage to this nation.

      And they’ll argue until they’re blue in the face that it’s not their fault, wretches.

      I left the UK in January 2016 and didn’t return until the 24th of June, so not only did I not get a vote (it was called after I left and Cameron’s government made it very difficult to vote while traveling) but I also missed *all* of the campaigning, debates, rallies, interviews, coverage – *everything*.

      So this is my chance to have a glimpse at what was going on and answer the question I’ve been carrying for almost 10 years now – what the FUCK happened to my country in those 6 months?

      Hubris. FAFO case study for Conservatives. They were so full of themselves. I was a strong Remain supporter, but I never saw a remain campaign, got all the info about the wonders of Brexit, even though I never asked.

      Brexit was one of the biggest mistake the UK did. Rejoining will take decades, but not with the special conditions we had before.

      Agree it was a shitshow but what would immigration figures have looked like if remain had been successful? Wouldn’t we have had the non eu immigration AND economic migrants from the eu? Genuine question

      A vote that would have longer consequences than any GE really should’ve had an upper age limit for voting. It wasn’t their future.

      The economic equivalent of losing a war.

      The political equivalent of terminal disease.

      Boris, Farage and Co belong behind bars. Plenty of people in prison for far less.

      Don’t Brexit folk still cling to the belief that the premise was sound, but the execution was poor?

      If only they’d had Farage to orchestrate things before he dipped out, we’d have the à la carte Brexit we wanted – free trade (on our terms), free movement (but not in our direction), £350m/week for the NHS. Shame.
