Its to late , his image has been cemented and Carney has fundamentally changed his competition.
Pierre is a fish out of water , he cannot win with the center while holding the right .

In what way did he shut him down? He meekly said he „speaks for himself“. This is Poilievre we’re talking about. The guy who LOVES to go on the attack…and this is his big shut down?
He didn’t boot him from caucus, he didn’t threaten to boot him caucus and he didn’t even publicly criticize him. All this from everyone’s favourite attack dog.

So let me get this straight. Jivani thinks the liberals need to, “to grow up and mature”. So, Carney needs to learn to behave more like Jivani? Really? Have they seen him speak? Looked at his policies? Read his CV? I’m just not seeing it. If anything Carney represents the adult in the international community. To, in any way other than age, suggest Trump or any other current representative of the international conservative movement is a model of maturity is just odd to me.

*would be right to shut him down, if he were to actually do that. At this point he’s nudging, winking, and dog whistling as hard as he can, trying to play both sides just as obviously as Erin O’Toole did.

He only “shut him down” after some time passed and the negative comments to Jivani’s visit started surfacing.
The party can’t do anything without consulting internal polling.
They have to somehow be both pro-Trump and pro-Canada at the same time.

To blatantly steal a phrase from de Souza’s own organization, the federal Conservative Party is „intrinsically disordered“, they seldom practice what they preach, their morality has a flexibility towards money and power, and they constantly try to praise their own efforts while ignoring the damage they do. However since de Sousa is based in a similar fraternal organization based on rank he at least understands that the underlings under you now will still be there so long as you keep them in their place. Thus the sermon ends, amen.
It’s so laughable, one might think the entire thing was manufactured to make it appear Poilievre is a great leader and knows what he is doing and that the party mantra is that everything that is ban or wrong for Canada is only always the fault of the Liberals is the only religion of the party.

That’s mighty big of de Souza. It takes a Conservative member of parliament siding with the Trump administration against Canada to be denounced by de Souza. You know what, I guess we should celebrate the small victories.

The CPC probably can’t afford to have a pro-Trump vs. anti-Trump fight when it’s already in the middle of the biggest PC/Reform spat in it’s history. Moderate MPs are already unhappy with Poilievre and floor crossings that have resulted from that unhappiness seem poised to continue as long as he stays leader etc.
Poilievre’s strategy thus far has generally been to tip-toe around Trump for that exact reason. A wing of his party is already showing dissatisfaction with his leadership, so it wouldn’t make sense to let division over Trump permeate through the rest of the party that’s been fanatically loyal to him up until this point. (on top of speeding up the rate of floor crossings for moderates that are already iffy about him etc.)
