      Being fair to Bessent is correct the money the Government indirectly took out US consumers pockets won’t be returned to them but to the companies that did the taking on the Governments behalf. So I fully expect the next PR attack will be for Trump et al to blame those companies for the tariffs they imposed on US consumers.

      No one is really talking about the tariffs justifying the tax cuts for billionaires.

      I think Congress needs to hike taxes.

      Hey kids the government will not pay anything back if anything they’ll raise prices on us to pay it back but Trump and his goons will not pay anything back we will be on the hook for this either through increased deficits higher inflation (nobody should be asking for a check and more money printing rn) or they might get created and just say everyone owes to government 200$ or something

      So, let me get this straight.

      Trump issues tariffs.

      Companies face these tariffs at the border upon importing goods.

      Companies raise prices on everything they sell so that consumers eat the cost of those tariffs.

      Supreme court rules tariffs unlawful.

      Companies now get refunded for all of the import tariffs that they had to pay, even though they raised their prices to force consumers to eat the costs.

      Not only do companies get rewarded for passing on the costs that already occurred, they get to benefit from a consumer base that is already accustomed to the higher prices of goods. (They won’t be dropping the prices any time soon out of the goodness of their hearts.)

      Is it ever possible for the American people to come out ahead under Donald Trump?

      Companies will sue. Lawyers get richer and we foot the bill for mistakes caused by amateur administration dumb Americans supported.

      Literally Turnip the Turnip King declared he was going to issue everyone tariff refund checks with all the revenue that was coming in. But now that the tariffs are rescinded, Bessent is saying nobody is getting anything back? But what about the revenue? Nonsense! Lawlessness! Chaos!

      Do the people who support him have no memories?

      JB Pritzker has the right idea. States should file a class action lawsuit to clawback the money they took from working people— $1700 per family

      Funny because in a May court filing the administration said if the tariffs were found to be unlawful they’d refund them all plus interest.

      They’re not going to. They’ve artificially raised the prices for corporations and have no intention on reducing them. Trump’s administration is allowing oligarchs and big corporations to loot and ransack anything they can get.
