I’d posit that ceol is beatha is a poor transcription of ceol agus beatha
I know it doesn’t help the poor sod fighting for his life but I’m glad to hear they’ve arrested them. Let’s hope they come down on them properly
So sad to think they can’t identify him. The Scottish flag on the tattoo is probably a big hint as to why they are having problems. The phrase could equally be Scottish Gaidhlig as well as Irish. Possibly here on a visit. Hope they make some progress. Poor lad.

I hope to God someone claims him, the poor man. It’s very likely he’s a tourist with someone missing him dearly. I’m glad we have a right to privacy and all but in times like this I do wish everyone was on a database so their loved ones could find them, as grim as it sounds. I hate thinking there’s someone crying themselves to sleep at night not knowing where he is.
With an assault like that I don’t know how you can press charges less than murder or attempted murder, aggravated assault just doesn’t cut it for a case like this.

poor chap got an awful beating, hopefully the thugs are caught soon and given a long sentence in prison
How alleged does an assault have to be when it puts you in hospital?
This is very heartbreaking to watch unfold. I hope the two that have been arrested are named and shamed and an example is made of them once and for all, we as a society can’t keep going through this situation where strangers are attacking others in the city centre and the shame falls on the entire city for months until eventually it becomes an afterthought only for it to happen again

Seems likely that he Could be a tourist could hotels/ hostels be checked for any guests who were supposed to check out that haven’t or have left belongings behind?
