Probably a good call if they are harassing and trying to deport their own indigenous people
There are numerous reports of ICE kidnapping American citizens who are Native Americans so Canadian citizens with native status could be easy pickings if you look at them the wrong way despite having the correct legal documentation.
Why? Are the passports bulletproof?
ICE have been harrasing, detaining, deporting, and killing ‚merican citizens.
How is a piece of paper going to help? They’ll just falsely claim that it is fake.
How about this, just don’t go down south.
I feel bad for many communities like Akwesasne in Cornwall. Many members have to cross the border multiple times a day.
My local band is advising its members to carry a “blood quantum letter” that fully details their entire genealogy. As well as a passport and an additional piece of government issued photo ID. The older laminated status cards are pretty useless on their own. All band members are advised to immediately get the Canadian government issued status card with all the security features.
Bro I’m white and I’m not fucking going there. Bring a passport? Don’t go homie. It’s not worth it.
