„According to Corrections Canada, it received 129 requests from inmates assigned male at birth petitioning to be moved to a women’s institution since March 2025.
Of those requests, 37 were approved, 72 were denied and 22 were withdrawn.
Corrections officials also said 90 inmates have identified themselves as transgender women as of October 2025, with 17 held in women’s prisons and the other 73 in men’s jails. Of those, a dozen have had gender surgery.“
If they are presenting as a woman and also targeting women I think they should be fine to spend their term in isolation at a women’s prison where they will never interact with another inmate regardless of their sex or gender.

I don’t get the big deal. How would they treat a cis woman who has multiple counts of sexual assault against women? The crime is the issue here more than the gender no?

Absolutely no. It is the duty of the state to ensure the safety of other inmates no matter their crimes. While yes that also includes this trans person who is also higher risk potentially in a men’s prison. There needs to be alternatives.

Meh.. I assume there are plenty of women in women’s prisons who commit serious crimes against women. Not sure why this would be any different. If they’re a risk to other prisoners put them alone.
It’s time to consider isolated trans wings in corrections facilities.

So let me get this straight, my tax dollars are paying for criminals to get gender reassignment surgery. While our health care system is as stressed and taxed as it is. This is insane.

If there is a male offender who is a threat to other men, they don’t throw up their hands and be like, „oh no! whatever will we do?“
Put her in a woman’s jail and follow protocol for inmates who are a danger to others.

just make an exception for gender-based violence. if you victimize women, you don’t get a transfer to a women’s prison.
and even if you victimize men, maybe you shouldn’t get to be in a women’s prison either.

The fact this is an actual issue is a sign of how insane the world has gotten. It’s ridiculous a transfer is even on the table and that some people believe that’s an appropriate course of action.
If you’re a guy in a male prison, your chances of getting raped are about 4%.
If you’re a trans woman in a male prison, your chances are about 35%
I don’t know the stats on rape in a female prison commited by trans women. I’m betting it’s lower than 35% but please correct me if that is not the case.
Based on this, it seems like putting trans women in womens prisons is the most ethical choice.
When is it okay to stop pretending so that women don’t have to be abused anymore?
People that commit crimes get to now tell us how we are to punish them
This seems more like someone trying to abuse the system than a genuine transition. i could be wrong, but based on thier history it seems they are trying to find work arounds to get to new victims.
Now genuine Trans inmates should be placed into the prisons of thier gender identity.
