My flabber is gasted. Sure makes PP’s 87% score at the Calgary convention look *engineered*. Pundits thought it would buy him time. All of about two weeks. I hope this isn’t a rogue poll. It would seem that the Liberals’ best asset right now is PP.

Alberta is the most difficult province to poll, so it’s not too surprising to see an outlier like this. The unfortunate part about not having a byelection in Edmonton Riverbend is that we don’t get a concrete data point that can be used to figure out where the numbers actually stand in Alberta. It’s difficult to imagine the Liberals have dropped all that much, but neither do I think they’ve increased all that much. The brand is just too toxic.
Polls usually underestimate the Conservatives by like ~10% in Alberta, or at least that’s what it was last election. But even that type of error would be a 20 point swing to the Liberals, which would give them most of Edmonton.

A poll commissioned by the western standard owned by Derek Fildebrandt who was double dipping subsidized housing and renting it on AirBnB.
It basically means Pierre is still unfavourable.

Uhhh holy shit? I never thought I would see the day that the Liberals are polling near even with the conservatives in Alberta. That is actually unbelievable

Holy fucking shit ball ass crackers…. if the Tories and the LPC are tied in Alberta than the tories are in serious trouble.

His policies so far have been very right wing so it only makes sense. The CPC has very little in terms of actual policy so when Carney comes out guns blazing for right wing values it makes sense for Albertans to be like oh shit I like this guy. He didn’t even have to wear a cowboy hat

I want to believe this but I struggle to.
Tied in Alberta means big leads in Calgary and Edmonton and I just … really struggle to buy that. I could see ties in Calgary and Edmonton being true, and even that would be remarkable.
Still, it would be good for the Carney Liberals to make inroads in Alberta and take away the UCP’s favourite boogeymen.

Nearly a year later and Carney is more popular than when he was first elected, we need to consider that Canadians just straight up like him.

The timing of this is hilarious given all of yesterday’s handwringing about Edmonton voters being undemocratically bamboozled out of their Conservative seat- it seems like most of them will be fairly happy with a Liberal given the party’s positions.

As a conservative Albertan if Carney can get an oil pipeline project off the ground he will have my vote, and I know he will from a lot of other Albertans as well.

I dont think its even a case of PP being „too conservative.“ As someone who doesnt follow politics in a TON of detail, his personality just comes off as smarmy and annoying. His schtick of constant whining made sense against Trudeau to people who felt Trudeau was a virtue signaling fool. I know its not common in this sub, but this made me detest Trudeau and I was looking forward to seeing him get creamed. Carney is clearly…not that at all? He is very middle of the road, and PP attacking him in the same way seems way out of place, and like a teenage boy criticizing an actual adult.
