Hey, we did our best. We’ve beat them before, we can beat them again. This isn’t the last Olympics. Nor the last game we will play against Team USA.

      You did us proud, ladies.

    2. Sucks lost to USA, the boarding call was a middle finger though wish it was a 5min.

It was a good game. Would have liked to see Canada on top, but we will be seeing these women again. So much talent.

That overtime really showed the age of the Canadian players, they need new younger players going forward. The Americans were all over them during the third and into OT.

Silver is no easy feat though congrats to them!

    5. So proud of the team. Tough not to get all the way through. But they did an incredible job.

Better team won. Canada put in a fantastic effort and the game was way closer than it had any right to be, the American women are insanely good. I think youth was a big factor, the Canadians looked much slower in OT.

Hopefully hockey Canada and reflects that we need some (a lot) of fresh young blood on the national squad.

Canadian women’s hockey rocks no matter the outcome here! Offer to pay for their beer forever.

    8. Congratulations to the 🇺🇸women, thank you my amazing 🇨🇦team I couldn’t be prouder. Keep your
      heads high!!❤️
I’m curious on the amount of training money for the 🇺🇸 vs 🇨🇦.

Give this team credit for almost pulling it out. They need both new blood and better coaching. It was clear to see that they really did not have a good structure to take advantage of their time in the O-zone. Too many times the puck was simply shot to an area or weakly shot towards the net. The U.S. (as much as I hate to say it) had better structure and skill.

Tried our best, but in all honestly, we were not better than the Americans overall.

Strong 1st and 2nd period. Treading water in the 3rd. Abysmal OT.

All we can say is nice try ladies, and congrats USA.

Let’s not forget, going in, Canada had been written off. They played their hearts out for us. I’m one proud Canadian.

I was laughing when Canada won 3v3 with the men last weekend and I’m laughing now that they used it to decide a gold medal – that’s insane.

Great. Now we get to hear Trump tell us that this is because we’re closer to China.

Unfortunately this result was expected. Canada got their asses handed to them in the rivalry series & regulation Olympic game. Team Canada need to reorganize and rebuild the entire organization from the top down.

The ladies fought hard this game & made the Americans work for it.

They played a great game but they spent to much time having to react.

    16. Watching the medal ceremony, no one was more cheered than Poulin and Desbiens even though they got the silver.

Our ladies gave it their all and I am so proud of them. It just goes to show how much damage DJT has done to everything the US is involved in. When the crowd started chanting USA during the medal presentation ceremony I had to turn off the volume.

The Canadians stifled the US flow in the neutral zone for two periods, but stopped that entire mode of play once they got that short handed goal. They let the US back into the game in the third.

The last three minutes, with the US goalie pulled, was played with virtually no urgency at all by the Canadian defenders. Maybe they were completely gassed, but they hunkered down, collapsed to the net, and more or less just gave the US the periphery. It’s not a normal power play, it’s the last two minutes of the gold medal game with a yawning empty net beckoning. Empty the tank, people, and pressure, pressure, pressure. Force a bad pass, get it over that blue line and buy a few seconds, block a shot and hopefully get a good bounce, win a board battle you normally lose … do whatever you need to do.

OT was a debacle. Two bad give aways in the first minute, terrible line change decisions and passing decisions, no real focus on possession and retaining it at all costs, etc. It’s almost like it was never coached, but most of those women know 3 v 3 from the PWHL.

    19. Why on earth does it go to 3 on 3 in overtime? Like what is the point?

Leagues have done this to speed up regular season games, to add something exciting… but this does not belong in a gold medal game come on!

    20. No_Crab1183 on

Proud of our gals, they came out *firing* and proved they deserved to be there.

Still sucks a gold medal game isnt decided 5v5 in OT. Blows my mind.

    21. A hook on Canadian breakaway denied a shot in OT and not even a penalty called.

3v3 in these sort of games is silly, because a penalty is game-ending.
