UK refusing the US to use RAF bases to attack Iran.

Its not trump himself doing the attack, its the US military on behalf of the United States…

This is big.  Diego Garcia base is that island in the Indian Ocean with a joint US-UK bomber base. It would be critical to any conflict in the region

    >the Government’s position was due to concerns over a breach of international law

According to the Budapest Memorandum and the regime’s support for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, no, this is not illegal (assuming the US seeks regime change).

Trump will let the world burn before he suffers for his crimes.

He will torch every human alive if it means saving himself.

    Trump is a monster.

    Trump is an American monster.

    Only Americans can defeat him.

One of the perks of being an ally of the most active military in the world is being drawn into its conflicts.

Interested to see what the public reaction to this is.

The UK wants to deter the Trump admin from starting another war, but frankly Iran has funded terrorism across the Middle East, terrorism against Ukraine, and has killed plenty of its own people.

Really curious as to why anyone would defend a rogue state like Iran. In any case, the U.S. could and will strike Iran without the RAF base because of the naval carrier groups that are in the region, existing American infrastructure in the ME, and other allies that are more than happy to see Iran get striked (Israel).

I’m not a Trump supporter, but i can understand striking Iran.

*Edit, as expected so many replies are just about DJT or shitting on the U.S.

Remove DJT from the equation. And ask yourself why we should allow Iran to kill tens of thousands of its own people or continue to destabilize the region, or fund Russia’s invasion. If Biden or Harris were POTUS I’d expect them to do something too.

Makes sense if Cyprus was accidently hit by Iranian missiles it would escalate things massively

This is all show for the media, it’s about to go down and UK will be involved if not with their military directly then with a supporting logistics intelligence role.

Italy did this when Reagan bombed Libya on the 80s IIRC. I guess they just don’t want to be drawn in and risk their forces getting attacked.

The US can only project force globally because of our friends and allies, allowing us to use military bases on their land.

Every country should expel all US military. Do you really want fascist military bases inside your borders should things escalate for the worst?

If only for the relay station for the drone delivered war crimes

  12. There has been a non-stop flow of multiple C-17s back and forth between RAF Mildenhall and Israel going on for over 24 hours. A massive amount of military materiel is being moved by the United States, through the UK. There are 6 C-17s in the air at this moment and at times there have been several more than that. Perhaps the UK won’t allow takeoffs for an actual attack, but they are playing a part in getting US military equipment into Israel.

Edit: they also could be headed for Saudi Arabia, it’s hard to tell because the planes go dark half-way across the Mediterranean Sea.

You know you’re really fucking evil when UK is being the sensible one.

I wonder what the real story is here, it’s never as it seems with Trump.

From reading the article it sounds like a mix of clickbait anti-Labour journalism (original source is The Times), Trump talking absolute shit as he does on a daily if not hourly basis, no real need for US military to attack directly from UK bases given it doesn’t make logical sense, and an attack on Iran not actually being that likely as things stand.

Worth noting – there is huge US military build up in the Gulf as they push Iran to make a deal „or else“ and a lot of USAF traffic stopped off at USAF bases in the UK on the way over there.

Can’t remember the planes or the origin base in the UK, but there were a few large USAF planes that took off from a UK RAF base and were en-route to the Gulf just yesterday on Flightradar.

Few Globemasters on the way there as I type this, but took off from Germany.

The US is not short of choices when it comes to attacks on Iran, and have a *shit load* of military there already that could take Tehran out in a morning. No need to use our bases.

  15. Nice army you got there. Shame you can’t really take it anywhere on account of living in the middle of nowhere.

  16. lordnastrond on

    Okay, but why?
I despise Trump but intervention in Iran is desperately needed and wanted by the people to remove Khamenei’s genocidal regime…. the regime has killed tens of thousands of protesters this year already.
Khamenei’s regime is also a global adversary of the West and the largest state sponser of terrorism….

I see no reason not the take advantage of the instability in Iran to finally remove this evil regime.

    Maybe others can enlighten me.

Good shit. Love to see anyone stand up to Trump and his warmongering. Everyone knows he’s trying to distract from Epstein with this Iran nonsense too

Rubbish, adsb shows US aircraft operating from the Mildenhall, Lakenheath area and going to and from the Persian Gulf.

Trump really did a number on the whole „special relationship“ thing, didn’t he?

  21. Loose_Goose on

Interesting, the UK is typically dragged into most US wars. Seems like a significant sign that they won’t be involved militarily.

  22. TheFragturedNerd on

Well obviously because we never helped the US with their wars, or made any meaningful contributions why should we start now?

Donnie the diddler is gonna have a bitch fit over that. Can the UK arrest him for us like they did with Andrew?
