I’d agree with this take. It’s a classic case of the Streisand Effect.

CBS‘ move backfired spectacularly. Talarico couldn’t have bought this much publicity.

I really like Crockett a lot, but I’ve been in Texas for 40 years, and she has absolutely no chance of unseating Cornyn.

  4. Headline makes her sound a little more angry than she does in the statement if you watch the video. That being said I am already sick to my shit of this high school garbage happening in this race. Her reaction along with Colin Allred’s reaction to a hearsay accusation of what some fucking tik-toker claimed was said in a discussion with Talarico made them sound like fucking teenagers pissed off in the school parking lot. I have supported Crockett since early on but Talarico is the only viable candidate for this senate race and making this insinuation that he’s being given an unfair boost is a mimic of maga bush-league garbage and I actively hopes she loses this primary handily so she can reevaluate her future efforts for public office.

  5. I love Jasmine, she should be running for a congress seat somewhere. James is gonna trash these fools

I’m not a TX resident, but if I were I would have voted for Talarico in the primary, even before the Colbert/FCC/lawyers situation. I think he’s the stronger candidate for TX. I think even before this he had the better shot at winning the general.

That said, and I respect the hell out of Crockett, but I hate to say this, but in this day and age, an African American woman will not win a senate race in Texas. I wish it was different and that wasn’t the case, but the Dems best candidate has to be a white male.

Democrats need to not be stupid here.   Crockett has a zero chance of winning the senate as she is black and Hispanics and republcians are racist. Sadly she will lose votes for being black and a women in texas.  She will lose.
She only is a representative because she won a heavily black district in Dallas.
Talarico has the best chance of winning. He is white and christian.

Democrats have to stop trying to pick candidates that wont get the racist/sexist vote as that will lose them the election.
Just look at harris, she lost to the devil because she lost the racist/sexist voters.

Democrats need to start playing the game to win.

Censorship is the #2 tool in the toolbox of the fascist, the first being „race“ (othering)

But when you censor something, you give it legitimacy

These fascists will find out the hard way with their book burning

  10. Both are good candidates, I hope the loser can displace Rafael “Ted” Cruz in a few years, and I actually think Talarico could battle him better… Ted is one hell of a debater, he does that extremely well, unfortunately.

Jasmine Crockett is a donor captured Dem with the look of a fighter.

  12. That’s true, but it also was a strong tell as to which candidate the GOP fears most in the general, which voters should consider when voting in the primary. I tend to think that the FCC would be happy for Crockett to be interviewed on Colbert.

  13. I’d have a hard time choosing between these two.

I’d also hate to lose either from government.

Glad Texas has some good choices!

  14. If she feels that way, I wish she would drop and keep going for her current seat in the house, if she can, that is. I feel like her continuing to run opposing Talarico is just flooding the zone with too many people and we need BOTH of them in these important parts of the legislature. She should endorse him. I love her to death! She’s a firecracker. But we need strong leadership in both the Senate AND the house.

  15. Talarico actually makes flipping sense! I was following him way before this and his take on Christianity is refreshing. I hope Texans like him overall and he becomes a senator.

  16. I definitely watched it on YouTube, probably wouldn’t of seen it otherwise

  17. What a shame these two are running against each other. We need both in Congress.

  18. I find it disappointing that her main concern is how much of a bump her opponent is getting, rather than the main issue of the government or media outlets censoring speech based on politics.

I love Jasmine Crockett, but honestly, James Talarico needs to win this. Trump‘s base is nothing without the evangelical right and James Talarico threatens that at a fundamental level because he is who they think themselves to be. I’m agnostic, but I’ll be damned if listening to his sermons doesn’t inspire me. Right now, for their political power, if the church needs James Tallarico so does the country.
