This province, and the country’s addiction to P3s is so bad, we are doubling down on scam artists. We need to bring these projects in house, and build it without wasteful middle men. It’s fiscally sustainable, and P3s are fiscally irresponsible given the cost overruns that the taxpayers face the brunt of, and they erode our state capacity.
It’s just insane that we need a private contractor to build a glorified streetcar/LRT line.
In my home country of Turkey, and home town of Istanbul, do you guys wanna know effective we are at building Transit? They built 65km of new Metro lines (6 separate lines), over the course of 1 term (5 years). And they have 12 more on the way!

Zero progress on completing pedestrian and cycling infrastructure. I’d guess 20% complete on public facing components; the maintenance and storage facility may be further along.
