They’re really splitting hairs. „We didn’t threaten him, we just told him there might be certain… Repercussions…. If he were to air the interview“

There is no “Equal Time Rule.” The fairness doctrine went away a long time ago, and it’s why we are cursed with Fox News.

I wish Colbert would have just defied them and aired the interview anyway.

Force them to pull the entire episode if they were so desperate to comply with something that wasn’t even yet mandatory.

Basically, their legal guidance is that if they air it, they are gonna get sued.

If they get sued, they’ll say he went rogue and that the network is not at fault.

CBS are liars, I trust Colbert and his people more than the wannabe Fox News station.

CBS is obviously lying; I don’t believe Colbert would lie about this.

“If you air this you will be sued into oblivion” see, that’s not us saying that you can’t air it, it’s just us saying that we will be respond to you airing it with legal action. No one was ‘forced’ to do anything!

i believe, if a military commander suggests something, you should consider it an order

  12. Anything that CBS says just immediately assume it’s a lie cause it almost always is.

    Equal time rule?
The one that the GOP president in the 1980s got rid of so that Fox News and rush Limbaugh could say anything without giving fair equal time?

    That rule?

  14. ‚Legal guidance’… as in a lawyer or a team of them, calling him up and telling him how much trouble he will be in if he does something specific?

  15. CBS openly lying to the public now. A new low for a once respectable network.

Republican censorship. Over and over story after story Republicans changing the laws so people don’t talk bad about them. It’s a sad state of affairs in America. After a bunch of idiot, Americans voted for Don the treasonous con all of the fears and worries are now coming true. Thanks again dumb ass America.

Nothing stopping them from putting it up on YouTube. FCC has no say there iirc

  18. And the Equal Time provision specifically excludes talk shows. It’s CBS fealty to Trump.

  19. Either way, Colbert utilized the Streisand effect to great…effect here. More people will see the interview due to the “controversy”

  20. CBS are a bunch of flip flops, while they love the money they don’t want the risk of showing truthful interviews. They should be bold and fight back.

I feel like there’s an email out there that would clear up the confusion
