    1. Respectfully as long as a giant tech company like Microsoft is unable to fix the « search » option of Outlook to easily access old emails, all our jobs are safe.

Spotify AI can’t even process a prompt where you ask for a song with a similar beat to a reference song. It will simply suggest the reference song and says that it’s a « strong match ».

And im not even talking about all the companies that shifted toward AI to do part of their employees work and had to revert their decision because it was not cost saving but cost sulking

after AI takes my job, it’ll leave me plenty of time for my new hobby of burning down data centers

    3. I forgot this guy existed. What has he been up to since he decided to run for president?

    4. vanshnookenraggen on

This man is an idiot. I’m not sure what he’s getting out of this, but he’s only repeating the same lies that every other AI company is. AI is nowhere near ready to take everyone’s jobs yet.

    5. There was a time when people thought spreadsheets would wipe out accounting jobs and email would eliminate entire admin departments lmao.

    6. ManWithoutUsername on

They’re burning billions and repeating the same song every week, probably so they keep giving them billions

If they want to eliminate jobs, the most reliable thing would be to give 1 million of those to each person so they can stay home for the next 10 years.

      There are two facts:

The fact that these illuminated experts keep repeating it is probably because even they don’t believe it.

For now… the fact is that the change isn’t drastic in terms of jobs, but it is in the quality of work done by AI. Even Microsoft could be in trouble if it continues to rely on AI for its system.

    7. BasicallyFake on

AI wont do this, what it will do is wipe out the rest of middle management and allow fewer higher level people to manage more, further lessening upward mobility

    8. MauryPoPoPo on

Didn’t he say all the truck driving jobs would be gone in a year back in 2016

    9. And when it doesn’t will he stop speaking publicly when he’s wrong so often?

    10. I love these articles. It enables you to know instantly, who in power has the IQ of a sponge.

Andrew Yang is a grifting asshole whose me-too opinions can be safely ignored without risk of missing anything relevant. This idiot ran for president, then ran for mayor of New York City, then announced he was forming his own political party, then jumped on the crypto train, then jumped on the blockchain train, probably got on the NFT train at some point, and is now yapping about AI.

    12. Handsome_fart_face on

This the guy that said truck drivers would be out of jobs 10 years ago?

    13. 0 days without some tech dude C position telling us that we will lose our jobs. Water is wet

    14. Guys, the bubble is bursting, get over it. AI currently is NOT what people think it is. Stop trying to FOMO us all into buying into bullshit we don’t need and is just making EVERYTHING worse.

    15. AI is peak capitalism. It benefits so few people and actively hurts so many – uses up natural resources, raises energy bills, and costs people jobs.

    16. OttersEatFish on

My guess is that AI bullshit will wipe out billions of dollars in the next 12-18 months and dipshits will still be getting coverage for their predictions even as they revise them for the thousandth damn time.

    17. I’m getting really tired of „<insert prominent person here> says AI will <something> in X months“. They are almost always wrong.

A year ago I was 3 months way from losing my programming job. I’m busier now than ever.

    18. Person who is balls deep into the success of AI and may lose everything if it fails declares mass lay offs of millions of white collar jobs in the very near future because that is the only way their investments will pay off and they themselves wont end up being broke, bankrupt and losing their own jobs.

I think we can safely ignore clowns like this, let it play out and keep calm and carry on as we Brits like to say.

    19. wpapafranksss on

I’m at the point now that the term Ai is just an excuse to lay off thousands and thousands of humans from companies that over hired from Covid and that just have bad business practices…

    20. flashflighter on

Translation, they WANT to layoff millions of people to justify unhinged spendings that have no roi so far)

    21. It depends if white collar jobs can afford the adaptation to a non human interface. If my coworkers start delivering unverified garbage it’s not helping, it’s hurting.

If the job can tolerate uncertain outcomes and loosely defined truths, then sure.

    22. so what happens when the unemployment rate skyrockets. legit what the fuck do these tech sociopaths think the outcome of this. Cool your stock price increased astronomically, now we are in a depression and everything burns to the ground

    23. Strange_Recording931 on

when these companies announce AI efficiencies, or mass lay offs, PUNISH them, cancel accounts switch provider, make their bottom line reflect their anti-social decisions

    24. The14thWarrior on

lol no one cares what Andrew Yang has to say. Haven’t his multiple runs at politics proven this?

    25. I’m kinda curious who will be able to buy products from these companies that are replacing everyone with AI. If we all get replaced, how are the companies going to earn money since we can’t afford to buy products?

    26. Wild_Librarian8851 on

Folks let’s let it happen. The systems will crash in a few days and then we will be unemployed so can’t be fired from frying out a data center

    27. The US job market is incredibly dynamic. Millions of jobs are constantly being destroyed and created at almost all times. So a forecast like this is meaningless. If he wants to make a real forecast he can state a date and an unemployment rate and then we can check his math. Otherwise this is clickbait punditry.

    28. Live-Collection3018 on

no it wont, it would require AI to actually work well and people to learn how to use it.

it wont and people dont want to use it

    29. Anderopolis on

      Remindme! 18 months.

Millions of white collar workers will not have been replaced by AI.

    30. phatballlzzz on

It’s almost as if people who have massive, vested, financial interest in AI succeeding who happen to be running out of money and widespread adoption is failing need to make lofty claims like this so they can continue receiving massive funding from their investors without arousing suspicion that they’re in over their head…almost.

    31. Did the AI tell him to say that?

If it does happen, give it six months to go up in flames as the AI just starts making things up because it is learning from other flawed AI.

When they come crawling back for their employees, make sure you get yourself a raise.

    32. And those same companies are going to crater once it happens. And it will be glorious.

But why wait until then? If you see companies already going this direction then speak up and speak loud with your money. Don’t support them.
