  1. They are so afraid of him flipping Texas, they are threatening FCC licenses for broadcasting his interviews.

  2. >CBS lawyers had barred him from airing an interview with Texas state Rep. James Talarico, who is running for U.S. Senate, in a preemptive bow to FCC pressure over the agency’s push to apply its “equal time” rule to late-night talk shows.

    >Colbert revealed that the network’s legal team had called “The Late Show” staff directly and told them “in no uncertain terms” the interview could not be broadcast. He had additionally been instructed not to raise the matter on air. He then proceeded to do precisely the opposite.

  3. /s So when will Breitbart, NewsMax, Foxnews, et all be required to include left-wing friendly segments and news?

Equal time my ass. They want far-right propaganda to have exclusive rights.

    Obviously BS

But I’d love to see MTG up there to hear why change of heart

  5. Horse hockey. They worked for years to abolish the fairness in broadcasting act. if they can do that then they need to go after Sinclair stations. they own half the broadcast news channels in the US and stop them from airing their daily right wing opinion pieces that are „must run“ pushed to the locals from corporate.
and the 700 club that iirc is still being aired on local broadcast channels.

I know they’re running against each other right now, but I’d like to see both Talarico and Crockett flip Cornyn’s seat and Cruz’s seat, respectively. Talarico would do well to get into the Senate with two years left of Trump to go, and then use that arena to highlight the hypocrisy and utter insanity of the Epstein class, and help erode base support for Trump; and watching Crockett debate Cruz and end his lying shitshow would be too satisfying.

Or, they are terrified of Talirico. He is very popular. And of course their biggest fear. Decent

I absolutely do not have faith that our current Democratic Party is strong enough or even interested in undoing all of this damage. I get it, there is a lot to undo, but I just don’t think they want to or can.

Dems are actually crazy if they pick Crockett over this man. He terrifies the republicans because he’s everything they pretend to be.

    > Walking his audience through the FCC’s “equal time” rule – which requires broadcast networks to provide opposing political candidates equivalent airtime

I’m not exactly sure how the rule works, but if Talarico’s opposition wants to come on to Colbert’s show for an interview I’m sure Colbert would be happy to oblige him. It can’t violate the rule if they decline access to the „equal“ time right?

  11. That’s bullshit. Reagan got rid of the fairness doctrine in 87 and the fcc vote 4-0 to repeal it because of freedom of speech. They caused this problem. Every news report thst talks politics should have a republican response as well as democrats response. Then the educated voter can decide. But when you hear once side for almost 40 years now you get the country we have now. No one researches and just regurgitate what fox News and cnn say.

  12. Restore the Fairness Doctrine. We won’t ever get all conservative propaganda off the air but we can neuter it.

  13. Streisand effect — I just watched it on YouTube because they wouldn’t let Colbert air it.

Equal times? Maybe he could interview Massie afterward to even out the times?
