The thing that shakes me every time I watch the original is how bad it smells. It’s so sensuous and provocative that I absolutely feel I am getting dirty from being inside that house, that my skin is frying in the heat and I’m thirsty and imagining tainted water. It’s visceral presentation without artifice.
All techniques that I find rare to non-existent in today’s films. Films are now too sterile and flat and colour graded and green screen fake and distant.
Glen Powell will not be stopped until he remakes every beloved movie for the worse.
Bring it on. This is one of the weirdest and most wildly inconsistent franchises in horror. I enjoy almost all of them on some level. The best ones are some of my favorite movies of all time and the worst ones are so bad they’re good.
Part of what makes the original so disturbing is how realistically the characters are murdered. No elaborate setups or anything. I know that probably wouldn’t resonate with modern day horror audiences, but it’s my favorite thing about the movie. Anyway, I’m sure this will be enjoyable in some way, even if it sucks.

Glen Powell is so vanilla mid. I can’t imagine this movie will be good.
The only way i’ll watch the remake is if we are promised that Glen gets sledgehammered or he takes the wheelchair/Franklin role and we all know what happens there.
