  1. Interestingly, in germany many of the red places are university towns where many young women move to but then apparently don’t have many children.

    Two of the blue areas in Germany are the sites where big US military bases are located.

    Interesting how there’s a big halo effect around Paris, I think (literally no proof) it’s couples who form in Paris but then go the neighboring areas to buy a house and have kids. Meanwhile Paris itself is very low except poorer/immigrant heavy areas

  3. Italy, Poland and Spain. Three large European nations. I wonder what the Germans or French do better.

    Is there no data for northern Ireland or do the fertility rate really fall off once you cross the invisible border?

    Can someone explain why a high region in Slovakia and a low region in Poland exist right beside each other?

  7. Region in Croatia marked blue, Međimurje County has a large Roma people community. Hence the reason. I belive it is similar with Slovenia.

  8. Funniest thing is that the „high“ fertility regions are probably still under 2.0 meaning that it’s still crap ..

    Borsod is less than 1,75 and Szabolcs and Heves are both higher. How did it happen?
    Borsod, Szabolcs and Nógrád have the highest % of Roma but Borsod always was the top. Heves also have lot of Roma, but it had less % wise …🤔 it never had the highest tfr in Hungary

    accurate title.

    it’s „Europe & Turkey“ indeed,

    & this „distinction“ may be noted.

  12. Here in Italy the demographic situation is catastrophic (no need to say the government don’t give a fuck about it, or about the lack of stable jobs, the housing crisis, the fact that MANY skilled workers leave the country, the stagnant wages with the rising cost of living, etc).
    The 3 regions with the highest TFR:
    * Trentino alto adige = 1,39
    * Sicily 1,27
    * Campania 1,26

    Bottom 3 regions:
    * Aosta valley = 1,05
    * Molise = 1,04
    * Sardinia = 0,91

    Top 3 provinces
    * Bolzano (Trentino alto adige) = 1,51
    * Crotone (Calabria) = 1,36
    * Reggio Calabria (Calabria) = 1,34

    Bottom 3 provinces
    * Oristano (Sardinia) = 0,93
    * Sud Sardegna (Sardinia) = 0,89
    * Cagliari (Sardinia) = 0,84

    What’s the matter with „children per couple“ or have I missed something and women can get pregnant immaculately, now?
