Shitty behaviour from the Gardaí, dragging this out all the way through trial, and putting the Teacher through this, then only to settle at the last minute. Such a waste of the State’s resources, Gardaí legal team making bank and the State picks up the bill.

      >Denise Callinan (28), from Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim, had sued over the injuries she allegedly sustained in the incident on October 19th, 2019, at Mill Street Garda station, **where she was brought following her earlier arrest under public order legislation**.

Was she found guilty for what she arrested for? Would this not affect being a teacher?

Why isn’t the garda named? Why isn’t there detail on whether or not the garda is still employed by the state?

    4. So much public money wasted by Garda defence team. Why didn’t they reach a settlement before a Jury was convened ?

    5. The civil case is that she broke her arm on the night. This must be proven on the balance of probabilities. It seems more a case that it couldn’t be disproven that it was broken during her restraint by Gardaí and therefore on the balance of probability, with no other party alleged, the jury were going that way.
What’s of note here is that there is no tangential criminal case for assault causing harm. ie: she’s not claiming that a Garda is criminally liable for her assault and it doesn’t seem that the court is asking that question either, most likely because there is significant reasonable doubt as to how she broke her arm.
This woman is a grifter. She broke the law and sustained an injury which she’s making a few pound off. Scandalous grift taking money out of the pockets of every citizen and lads here applauding it.

Fair play to her, i can’t imagine suing the gaurds in rural ireland is easy. I would assume there would be repressions….like getting „randomly“ stopped for road tax, breathalyser etc etc
