Im ursprünglichen Beitrag geht es nicht um Irland, aber jedes Mal, wenn ich diese Art von Karten sehe, finde ich es seltsam, dass so viel von Irland „technisch“ in UTC-1 sein sollte, es aber in der Praxis nicht ist

Would be weird if the north and south were different time zones. UK is also one of Ireland’s biggest trading partners, so perhaps being in the same zone is beneficial?
Ireland used to be on [Dunsink time](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTC%E2%88%9200:25:21), 25 minutes and 21 seconds behind Greenwich Mean Time. And I’m going to make it my life’s work to make sure that’s reinstated. For reasons.
The bulk of the population lives in the yellow zone. At least we’re not as bad as Spain.
This reminds me of the time a local fella posted a status on Facebook asking what time the Dublin vs Tyrone game was on at because it said coverage was starting at 2pm on RTE2 & 3pm on BBCNI
I commented we were in different time zones & he believed it, missing most of the game.

Yeah we should all just be in European time it’s easier.
was living in London one summer and had to go to Galway to meet a customer. Blew my mind how much brighter it was at like 10pm (nearly 11pm) compared to London. The difference was crazy.
Better question would be why is Spain not in the same time zone. Possibly France as well.
The fact that the west coast of Spain in the same timezone as Warsaw or Macedonia is what gets me.
Spain is in the entirely wrong time zone though.
Video calls to London around sunset from the west really puts it into perspective around summer time, an entire hour ahead!

Splitting Ireland would be silly. Cheating it slightly east to be in the same timezone as the UK is probably very helpful for business. Meanwhile there is not much just west of it to make -1 helpful.
