      I mean anyone with common sense knew this and knew that his tariffs were an indirect threat to tank the economy.

      It’s just a shame that half the country thought he can fix it.

      I find it incredulous that there is anyone that doesn’t understand how tariffs work at this point. Once again, the exporters don’t pay anything when they ship. The goods arrive at the dock or a truck and offload whereby the importer pays the tariff and then it’s worked into the cost of the goods and ultimately, all us poor bastards pay the increased costs.

      Now this is Trump’s flawed logic comes in to play. He believes the increased costs you pay will entice manufactures or companies run by billionaires to build industries based on competitiveness to get costs lower and thereby raise employment in the US. But, here is where it’s flawed since most billionaires won’t hire people at all in today’s world. They will simply in time build dark plants that use robotics and keep that extra money to once again gain more wealth leaving the average person to still pay more for everything.

      All while we foreigners simply reduced our consumption of American made goods and travelled to the US less. Because honestly 1/3rd of you voted for this, 1/3rd of you didn’t bother voting against this, and the vast majority of you are doing fuck all to oppose this.

      It’s a tax on imports. It’s paid by local goods getting more expensive. Not very complicated

      Some larger companies have been absorbing at least a portion of the tariffs, thinking they would be short term. If they fully pass on the costs the affordability crisis will get worse

      There are billions in taxpayer dollars set side to fund corporations to pay for these tariffs. This is US taxpayers directly funding trumps political experiment.

      Like they thought that tariffs meant that everybody so desperately wanted to do business with them that they were willing to pay simply for the opportunity.       I watched the store brand coffee go from $8 to over $12 after the tariffs, so I know all about it.

      Are we growing coffee in America now? America is renowned for having tons of equatorial land suitable for growing coffee after all.
