Between this and the DHS running out of funding, it’s a good weekend.

With all the drones, these tanks will become expensive coffins.

Well that’s just lovely…I’m sure they blow up just as spectacularly as the new ones.

Not really a major battlefield change. It’s the tank equivalent of saying we have run out of Nice AR’s have this AK-74

  5. News are getting better and better in that front. T72s, how much donkey-power?

Are they using them as tanks or as impromptu artillery platforms?

Russia has used reserve tanks as impromptu artillery a few times during the war so far because their actual artillery units can’t maintain their guns at the rate needed for their mission tempo.

That’s not even that old for Russian gear. They’ve dug up and used tanks from the 50s already years ago.

Well, I guess they function as a better morale boost for normal servicemen than ladas and donkeys.

  9. So I presume Ukraine is saying…..don’t bring an old tank to a drone fight……bring it….lol

  10. What still amazed me it’s the massive amount of tanks produce by the USSR.

They were using t62s two years ago, this isn’t really news unless they were lying before

The T-72A’s armor can’t stand up to modern penetration weapons. They don’t have reactive armor. Their plating is only 3 inches thick and their engine block is exposed in the rear. Russia is literally using Soviet era tanks as cannon fodder now.

That’s not even that impressive. I mean hell abrams tanks ate from the 80s

  14. The T72 is well know for killing its own triops. Either maiming the gunner’s right arm with thr autoloader or killing troops around the tank due to its hydraulic jerk.

  15. Still using auto loaders with no blow out panels = turret toss Olympics will keep setting records. Provided they keep the hatches closed, otherwise we only get a lame volcano.

  16. Just in time for the 100 year anniversary the T-26 could see action again at this rate! Probably more like to see it in action than the „stealth“ T-14 Armata.

  17. I’ll give it to the Russians. They built solid machines since these things still run and have functioning firing systems. They are over 50 years old and likely sat idle for years. The fact they’ll even start means a lot of credit to their mechanics. I guess they’d have a lot of parts stockpiled.

Too bad more Russians have to die in these antiques. We saw how poorly these tanks performed against Bradleys and Abrams over 20 years ago in the gulf wars. These machines are totally outclassed in the conflict they are fighting.
