How? Though and prayers? Not to disparage the fine people of the Irish navy who do a great job with what they have but they don’t have the equipment to do this or a sufficient amount of personnel.

      >have said that states could use environmental protection provisions contained in the United Nations Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in order to board such vessels but that has not materialised.

      >The ships are listed in sanctions imposed on the Russian regime since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

If these ships are either from a sanctioned country, or even specifically mentioned in those sanctions then why would they need to use an excuse as an environmental protection to board them?

Is it not just a case of „we suspect you’re in violation of sanctions blablabla and we’re coming on board?“

      „Considering“.

Another McEntee buzz word meaning she won’t do anything.

    4. But only on weekdays between 10am and 4pm (times subject to available equipment/personnel).

Aye. The same way I’ve considered sticking my cock and balls in the Dyson Airblade hand dryer.

    6. I’m sure Russia are quaking in their boots now that not only is McEntee is ‘monitoring the situation closely’ , but is now ‘considering inspections’. Why are we trying to pretend we hold any power over them.

    7. We’re in no position to do this without the protection of being in NATO. It’s an idiotic idea when the Russians would be happy to make an example of us.
