To those poo-pooing this because they cannot look past their partisan bias, try to remember to follow the money. Carney knows a lot about capital. If the political will is there (clearly it is) and the money is there, much can be done.
> There has been a “seismic shift” as banks, pension funds and other major investors remove or reconsider exclusionary clauses that previously restricted putting capital into defence businesses, said Benjamin Bergen, chief executive of the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association. He expects “a tremendous amount of capital” to be unleashed.
In addition to domestic sources of capital, Carney has been all over the planet attracting new capital to Canada, a modern, stable democracy with a capable leadership that has presented a clearly defined, massive, investment potential in multiple sectors.

While I applaud the increase in military spending, I have great concerns that 22.3% of total government revenue will go to defense. 5% of GDP is $114B and total government revenue is $511B. A lot of government supports and functions will need to be cut, things that make Canada what it is today.
