Quite possibly. But also, they will not attack NATO, and any speculation about hypothetical wars remain speculation – it’s extremely hard to predict how a war between NATO and Russia would play out. What worries me more is why Rutte feels compelled to say these things.

  2. Its terrifying how much some of these Europols clearly **want** a war with Russia. Spending their time jetting between 5-star hotels in Brussels and Strasbourg, they and their children have no personal stakes in conflict. Regardless of the numbers of deaths or the economic impact on Europes common citizenry, they’ll still be swilling champagne over lunches where they discuss what institutional position they can laterally jump to once people get sick of seeing them n their current role.

  3. What does he mean, „***if***“?!

…we already ARE under attack by Russia: sabotage, cable-cutting, disinformation, funding dodgy politicians, constant probing with drones: it’s time for us to wake up and understand that even if we aren’t at war with Russia, they very much DO consider themselves to be at war with us.

  4. At this point, we could respond with an army of tame rabbits, and Russia would run crying to mommy that the big bad NATO is bullying them.

  5. There is no doubt about that, NATO can beat Russia, I suspect even without US. The problem is as the defender, the battlefield will be in Europe, the devastation will be in Europe, the infrastructure damage will be in Europe.

  6. This ONLY applies to military confrontation without nukes.
If we’re generally talking „attack“, then we’d be absolutely losing. How do i know? We have been „losing“ for at least 15 years. Russia is miles ahead in hybrid warfare. They completely own the internet to the point where they completely control the common discourse.
They have the US president in their pocket, they are en route to do the same with most of Europe.
I don’t know who is supposed to be wooed with a statement like this by Rutte, when it’s completely oblivious to reality.

I mean… Because Ukraine has ground them down.

    But yes.

And I know you support Ukraine Mark. So no direct digs on you. You’ve laid your dignity on the line for Ukraine and you could have just gardened and written a book. So I appreciate you.

I wish we should show some muscle then and actually start to help Ukraine. Even if it would have consequences, enough is enough, we have to get involved, without the US of course because they wont fight their Russian friend
