I lived in Calgary for a couple years and was astonished by how American it was.

A huge percentage of the population had a bizarrely idealised view of US culture and government. And not only conservatives, people of all stripes seemed to see the U.S. as the be all and end all.

So this separatist movement isn’t remotely surprising to me – and the end goal for many is admission to the United States (even if that’s a pipe dream).

    2. What a misleading headline.

It shows that people know that the U.S. would stick it’s nose in on Canadian business, not that Canadians are overly concerned or sitting at the edges of our seats.

I think people are certainly taking the concept of Alberta separation and the events that have occurred seriously, but I’m not convinced most people are legitimately concerned about it happening for real. It’s wildly unpopular in Alberta and it would be practically impossible to pull off.

I hope every last one of these seditious conspirators – especially Marliana „Danielle“ Smith – is charged and convicted. This is squarely on the AB government for encouraging and aiding this nonsense.
