By 2027 EVs will have reached price parity with ICE cars for all models.

I think by late 2028 we’ll hit 50% of new cars BEVs. Which is a significant milestone.

The Hyundai Inster seems like excellent value. It’ll sell loads.

I wonder what the broader implications will be by the 2030s when 80 or 90% of new cars are EV.

Will petrol stations start to close down? Will the air in our cities be measurably cleaner? Dublin Bus plans to be fully electric by 2035.

Self driving taxis will surely be here by then also.

All the lads will be along to say who these are on PCP or similar.

That sounds like good news. If they could just make the charging a bit easier and more joined-up, it would be good. Rather than different apps etc. 

My parents nearly got stuck in Belfast at the beginning of January. After midnight, heavy snowfall and trying to locate a charger that would match their car. Several had shown up on the map, but weren’t there in reality. Finally got to one and it wouldn’t accept their card. They were stood out in the blizzard for over half an hour trying to get it to work. Several kind people stopped to help, but couldn’t get it to work either. Eventually it connected, but the charging kept stop-starting. Hours of faffing round. 

They’ve had other similar problems in different parts of the country. I think there’s definitely a period of getting used to the technology on the user end, but there’s plenty that could be improved to make it easier.
