Regular people don’t want AI because they’re building datacenters causing our utility bills to go up.

I profoundly disagree with the take that AI is inevitable.
Nothing at all in the history that depended on humanity’s actions was inevitable. It just feels like that way because that’s what happened.

Nah, bring on the AI and robots to do all the work for us so we can pursue our interests for our enjoyment, not our self support.

the fear it lmao. guess they wernt as creative as they thought they were. no longer have monopolies on creation what a shame. maybe if they actually made good stuff they would be fine. this destroys human made slop so bad that they now have to put in effort. but they cant make creative stuff they always want their slop that makes just enough money to keep investors happy and all the middle men also complain cause now they cant overcharge for all the stage props and sets and such lmao. good maybe better stuff will be made now. here comes the guys who wanna kiss the corporate boot. for a tech thread people certainly dont seem to be into actual new technology do they?

I mean, the state is using it – all of it, all the time. It’s like being against the combustion engine. It just isn’t going to happen, theres too much push the other way. And if you somehow could legislate against it, shut down all the companies using it, you’re not gonna stop the indie devs from developing it albeit at a slower pace. The genie is out of the bottle.
You should have gone hard on Google when they were making rainbow dogs and eyes.

You don’t have any „troops“, the industries are using it, the people are using it and the consumers are enjoying it.
But hey, stupid people say stupid things, maybe she should have chat with AI to help her get over it.

Listened to this New Yorker podcast today about what’s going on inside Anthropic. It was nice to hear well informed people taking a nuanced view of the repercussions of AI, not just techbros or luddites invested in a polarizing viewpoint.

One of the points that stuck with me is that is that we as a society cannot afford to tune out on this.
