Veranstaltungen wie diese in der „Kide“-App. Meistens handelt es sich um gesellschaftliche Veranstaltungen und danach um Clubbesuche. Ich habe eigentlich niemanden, der mich begleiten kann, und das liegt auch hauptsächlich an meinem Budget. Aber Partys und Trinken gehören in Finnland zur Kultur des Studentenlebens. Wäre es einfach nur FOMO oder würde ich viel verpassen?

I would go see the kyykkä, it’s a fun silly „sports“ event. And you can participate sober too if you can stand it, when I was in uni I had many sober friends.
I was just at an afterwork with two persons who I studied with and who work in the same company. And we joined another group after eating the three of us. In the „new“ group I knew half of the people just because I was active during my studies and got to know people. Might sound like a small detail but we just talked about it how it actually makes a huge difference. I work in industry and I’m ordering projects from these people, so knowing them makes it much easier to work with them. I would definitely recommend participating in events that you could like because the relationships you form will have an impact beyond your study years. You don’t need to party and drink, you can also join them for fun and the activities.
Those are good for meeting new people and socializing. Not having anyone to go there with could actually be the reason to go and socialize, if that’s something you think is good for you.
You don’t have to drink alcohol! But you should probably go and try to make friends. Ask some of the other students in your class if anyone is going to X event. If they are ask to tag along! Most people also want friends just as badly as you do haha. Don’t feel too scared. If drinking isn’t a thing for you, just get soda or water. If you’re afraid of social pressure, order something that looks alcoholic (orange juice with strawberry syrup is tasty and looks just like Kelkka. Soda water with lime looks like a gin tonic). Have fun!
