Excellent news, investing in nuclear is still the best option for our future energy needs.

For replacing Pickering I’m guessing?

Ford and his government are horrible for this province’s 2 most important institutions, healthcare and education.. not to mention loads of dumb decision on cancelling projects that were already done just because they were put in place by the Liberals, and on top of the clear back room deals around the construction industry.
However, their investments in the Nuclear industry is one thing that I am in support of. There is so much potential and where Ontario and Canada have already been leaders in nuclear energy, we have lost a lot of steam over the decades and other nations are filling in the gap. Ontario and Canada should continue to invest in nuclear energy – we need to be on top of the incoming SMR push. So much potential there.

Is it really smart to build a nuclear plant beside one of the largest sources of fresh water in North America?
I’m all for nuclear power but can we pick a bit more remote area

# Cameco Corporation, the fuel provider, has its plant right there!

More nuclear! More solar! More hydro! More gas! SMR too! I’m all for energy diversity and decentralisation.

No mention in the article i can see about what reactor design they are going with for this new site. I really hope its CANDU instead of the new GE Hitachi BWRX-300 SMR reactor theyre putting in Darlington, simply because the BWRX-300 requires enriched Uranium, and Canada currently does not have any Uranium enrichment capacity domestically, so the Ontario governments plan is to import enriched Uranium from: The US…..which seems like a TERRIBLE IDEA when own own domestic CANDU reactor designs can use unenriched Uranium
