Kind of alarming. Everyone in the world is arming up…
I remember 6-7 years ago I was surprised Saudi Arabia was buying tens of billions of US armaments, I was like „who are they fighting, there’s basically noone around there“, and then the Houthi/Yemen war started, and it still rages on.
Never a good omen, when rich & powerful start arming up…….

HAL should be embarrassed at how bad they’ve failed the Air Force.

also why is that so expensive? that works out to 342 million per jet. even if its including support costs and stuff, that seems very, very high…

They could’ve probably made sure 90% of houses had plumbing for 39 billion.

I always don’t understand why Indian not build these themselves. 39 billion is a big money, i mean if they like, they can hire a bunch of French senior aircraft designers.

Deal of the millennium. India first cancelled the order citing irregularities in pricing and now after 10 years they’re going ahead with the same deal at double the price.

Let’s just say paying 30 billion USD for 114 rafales with maximum 60% indigenous content is not a full victory. We should’ve been able to atleast bulid our equivalent of Su-30mki heavy multirole fighter. Instead we struggle to build a jet engine. I’m happy we are able to fill squadron strength, but there’s no strategic autonomy and political will in buying so many foreign jets even after 75 years. Shame. Atleast Fastrack the manufacturing

Are these good jets?

Aren’t these the ones that got shot down by Pakistan flying Chinese jets and missiles at a fraction of the cost.

Shouldn’t they be spending that kinda money on developing it’s infrastructure?
