His son was standing up for his country and fellow athletes. He should be proud he didn’t back down.

  2. What a bunch of fucking cowards with a proud history of being a bunch of fucking cowards. The IOC is a corrupt clown organization.

Mad respect for taking a stand IOC is money/brand centric unfortunately they don’t care about the ethics and morals. To take such a risk on the biggest stage but with the biggest audience to me shows his dedication to raising awareness to what should be common knowledge… Russia is illegally invading and killing ukrainian citizens.

  4. Tears of joy no doubt knowing he raised a selfless hero of a son ✌️❤️

Heros take on many shapes and sizes.

    Glory to these heros.

    Heroyam Slava

  6. As a father we are here to teach our children good values.
That man should be extremely proud. Respect.

the IOC is, in spite of its overall coruption, very consistent on this. It just doesn’t allow any political messaging. it also disqualified american anthem knealers, russian lack of sportsmanship on the podium and everything in between. I applaude the guy for his convictions and his message was worth spreading – he just paid for it with his chance to participate.

Can we get people in the crowd to carry the same banners and images?

  9. To me, this is more powerful than any gold medal he could have one. Vladyslav Heraskevych is a role model for humanity. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦 glory to these men and women

  10. I am planning to contact IOC with this text through their [IOC] contact form and I would like to invite you as well to do the same. People need to show their dissent with the decision to disqualify the athlete:

**Subject:** Concern Regarding Disqualification of Vladyslav Heraskevych at Winter Olympics 2026

    Dear International Olympic Committee,

As a [Canadian/Insert your nation] and a passionate supporter of fair play and the Olympic ideals, I feel compelled to express my deep outrage and disappointment at the recent disqualification of Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych over his helmet during the Winter Olympics 2026.

What makes this decision even more disturbing is that, at the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus were allowed to compete, despite these countries being governed by authoritarian regimes and engaging in documented military aggression against sovereign nations. Allowing representatives from such countries to participate, while disqualifying an athlete from Ukraine—a nation under current attack—sends a profoundly troubling message. It suggests that the IOC is willing to appease aggressors, turning a blind eye to their atrocities and crimes against humanity, while punishing those who are standing up to oppression.

This blatant double standard is not just repulsive; it debases the fundamental values of the Olympic movement: respect, equality, and solidarity. By disqualifying Mr. Heraskevych under these circumstances, the IOC appears to capitulate to autocratic regimes, abandoning the very ethics and moral leadership that the world expects from one of its most respected institutions.

I urge the IOC to immediately revisit and reverse this decision, and to provide transparency and true accountability in your processes. The Olympic Games should be a beacon for unity, justice, and peace—not a stage for appeasing aggressors while silencing those seeking freedom and dignity.

Thank you for your attention to these urgent concerns. I sincerely hope the IOC acts to restore faith in its commitment to justice, fairness, and international solidarity.

    Sincerely,
    [Your Name]

Please feel to change the way you like it.

History will remember his defiance more than the performance of the medalists. His voice is that of a hero.

I don’t know if you can read this Mykhailo Heraskevych but if anyone can make sure you see this I hope it brings you pride of your son.

    Your son is a hero!

I’m from Norway. I don’t watch the Olympics. I don’t even know the name of the Norwegian contestants. But I know your sons name is Vladyslav Heraskevych because to me he is bigger than the Olympics.

Vladyslav stood up for what he believed is right. He is a David fighting the Goliath. You have succeeded as a father when you have raised a son to be one of the best athletes in the world and at the same time he sacrifices personal glory for the glory of many. The rest of us fathers can only hope to be half as good as you.

Sorry if this translation is not good (anyone can help me improve it):

Proudest father in the world right now probably. That guy is a national hero now, for something that’s even more important than being good at a sport.

How many people wanted to shake his hand for being good at sledding, and  now how many people want to shake his hand for being a massive role model and hero? I know which one Id want to be remembered for, and which handshake would mean more to me.

Its a shame the ioc shamefully added „disappointment in others“ into that moment for him.

  14. What are the Olympics supposed to be about?
Vladyslav won a gold medal in the true spirit of the Olympics, and beyond that, in the true spirit of mankind. Who cares what the IOC does or says, they chose not to stand up for right. That is their burden to carry.

He should be proud for him having stood his ground in the name of his homeland

Vladyslav Heraskevych is the moral winner in this IOC drama. He has earned more than gold…

Remember, the IOC are allowing US athletes to memorialise their lost ones as a direct result of US Army actions… So they can’t even make the point that it’s who or what they were doing.
