“The powerful U.S. agriculture industry is throwing its weight behind the Canada-U.S.-Mexico trade agreement, urging the Trump administration to consider the deal’s economic benefits to rural America before making any moves to rip it up.”
Ah, the same agriculture industry and rural America that overwhelmingly supported Trump in 2016, 2020 and 2024?
So they’ve screwed themselves, want to get access to our markets (ie. dairy) and then vote MAGA again in 2028?
Hard pass.
Their endorsement isn’t a positive

I understand people feeling a certain way about the American rural public because of the Regime they’ve created and enabled, but the old axiom „the enemy of my enemy is my friend“ certainly applies here.
This is a powerful economic lobby supporting a position that the Canadian government and most Canadians also support. They can run primetime pro-CUSMA ads without reprisal and have the ear of the types of insular MAGA politicians who would not engage in discussions with Canadian stakeholders directly. The US agricultural industry and Canada share enough commonality to coordinate on this point of common ground, and we absolutely should take advantage of this opportunity.
If the US can openly court separatist elements in Canada, we can absolutely coordinate and even negotiate potential trade concessions in return for the application of political pressure with the US agricultural industry. Things are dire right now, we don’t have time to snicker and sneer, we need to identify weakness and start applying pressure.
