Quote from Danish olympic skeleton athlete Rasmus Vestergård Johansen:

It’s something that touches me a lot. „Vlad“ is a good friend. He’s one of the people I talk to the most in the field. In a time when as a young person you can sometimes feel that the world is a little on fire, it’s perhaps peanuts compared to the situation „Vlad“ is in. He represents a country that is at war, and a lot of people who didn’t ask for this situation themselves” toTV 2 Sport

Bravo Denmark and Latvia. Every civilized country needs to be doing the same.

    🇺🇦 Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦

All other athletes stood by and looked away. No one said a word about this. If everyone or even a large enough minority took a stand the situation would be different. Just like in Ukraine.

Strongly worded statement post event is exactly the strong response. /s

Still the message is trending globally now so there is a positive effect of this

Russian athletes can compete in the games, but let’s not hurt their feelings by reminding them of what their country is up to. This isn’t politics. Viewing it as such is a cop out from the IOC to not antagonize Russia.
