      >the Volhynia tragedy is one of Poland’s state myths

there is also no war in Ukraine, just a special military operation of Russia reclaiming their historic lands.

The problem with Volhynia is that the only healthy feelings the UPA should have evoked were those of revulsion and retching. Those bastards even murdered Ukrainians, and Ukrainian women because they married Poles, and they mainly murdered those who wanted Polish-Ukrainian understanding. They didn’t touch anti-Ukrainian Poles because they only wanted ethnic conflict.

    4. I met Ukrainian and they are so different from my stand point I was shocked. I am not criticizing, but realising. In the Polish view point Ukrainians should think like Poles. That is why such statements like this we treat as huge disgrace and dishonour while for Ukrainians it is just using history for current politics

    5. Thankfully ordinary Ukrainians in their mass neither share this point of view towards this tragedy nor support the head of the institution. The Ukrainian public was pushing politicians for more than a decade already, including institutionalised efforts, to acknowledge the role of UPA in massacres, to exhumate known mass burials and conduct necessary research (finally this part started last year and first mass graves were jointly opened and investigated) and finally come to terms with Polish side on that dark spot of the history.

      > Poland criticises head of Ukrainian state history institute for downplaying WWII massacres

      Not ‚Poland‘ but the IPN

    7. Well, whatever. I realized a long time ago that it’s better to hang yourself than to prove something. I used to write essays how much I’m sorry for my country’s people’s actions, but it starts to seem to me now that you just want to proceed making it look like the majority of ukrainians unaware of the massacre/support it, and to close your eyes to own history. We are in a precarious position, so we are very convenient. Don’t blame you tho, always wanted bandera at the state level to stop being considered a hero, but it seems to me now you don’t want justice, you want to create an enemy.
