      Vem kan segla förutan vind,

      vem kan ro utan åror,

vem kan flyga med JAS Gripen,

utan att falla ner med den?

      Lars kan segla förutan vind,

      Lars kan ro utan åror,

men ej flyga med JAS Gripen,

Utan att falla ner med den.

    2. It makes more and more sense for Canada to buy these for a mixed fleet with F35s. They both have strengths and weaknesses.

    3. Since people aren’t reading the article, the only thing special about this deployment is the fact that it is Swedens first time doing the Icelandic Air Policing mission, which is only a thing because they are new to NATO.

The air policing mission over Iceland is usually a 3-4 week deployments that happens 2-3 times a year with rotating nations. The goal is to protect the sovereign airspace of Iceland, along with providing QRA coverage for the Greenland strait.

The US has performed this mission the most, usually contributing 1 deployment a year. (That dropped in 2020)

Norway is in second with 8 deployments since 2008.

Denmark had performed the mission 5 times since 2008. Most nations hover around the 2-4 times.

Sweden and Finland both jumping in is a good thing as it spreads the burden and cost of the deployment around and gives valuable experience to crews who may not normally sit alert back in their home countries.

This is just business as usual with Sweden getting their first chance at conducting the mission.
