  1. >According to a [report](https://mississippitoday.org/2026/02/05/medgar-evers-killer-trump-says-stop-calling-him-racist/) from *Mississippi Today*, the National Park Service has removed visitor brochures from the Medgar & Myrlie Evers Home National Monument in Jackson, Mississippi.

    >Two Park Service employees tell *Mississippi Today* that the brochures are expected to undergo significant revisions, including removing references labeling Evers’ killer, Byron De La Beckwith, as a racist.

    >In fact, Beckwith was a member of both the White Citizens Council and the [Ku Klux Klan](https://www.commondreams.org/tag/ku-klux-klan), and [remained](https://mississippitoday.org/2025/12/02/extreme-views-of-assassin-beckwith-from-35-years-ago-now-in-mainstream/) a committed white supremacist up to his death in prison in 2001.

    >*Mississippi Today* noted that the removal of the brochures at the Evers monument aren’t a one-off event, and the publication cited an earlier report from the [*Washington Post*](https://www.commondreams.org/tag/washington-post) detailing how the Trump administration “has ordered the removal of signs and exhibits related to slavery at multiple national parks, including an 1863 photo that Christian abolitionists used to prove the horrors of slavery.”

    >Historian Todd Arrington, site manager of the James A. Garfield National Historic Site, noted the suspicious timing of the change in the monument brochures.

    >“Today is the 32nd anniversary of Byron De La Beckwith’s February 5, 1994 conviction for murdering Medgar Evers in 1963,” he [wrote](https://bsky.app/profile/btarrington.bsky.social/post/3me53hkhgn22c). “I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that this news broke today. That racist POS—who bragged about killing Evers at Klan meetings and rallies—died in prison in 2001.”

    >[Human rights](https://www.commondreams.org/tag/human-rights) activist Martin Luther King III, son of civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr., slammed the Trump administration for trying to distort history.

    >“The murder of Medgar Evers was an act of racial terror,” [wrote](https://bsky.app/profile/officialmlk3.bsky.social/post/3me4xgp6kck23) King. “That fact is not partisan. It is historical. Calling it anything else is not ‘restoring truth.’ It is erasing it.”

Fuck this administration and its racist proclivities. It is absolutely abhorrent to not call Medgar Evers assassination an act of white supremacist terrorism, especially since Beckwith was a literal klansman.

Fuck Trump and fuck anyone who tries to do apologetics for this.

How are you going to talk about the death of Medgar Evers and not talk about racism?

I guess in the history according to MAGA he was struck by a bolt of lightning or something equally idiotic.

  3. Add it to the list of shocking things trump has done but which a significant portion of the country doesn’t care about

  4. „Mr. De La Beckwith was attempting to investigate voter fraud when Medger was injured in a hunting accident.“

    – A Republican, probably

Put the old flyer online and promote it. Just about anyone who visits this site knows what happened and why it matters.

    Stop being speechless. Be blunt.

*The President of the United States is a blatant racist. We can add this to the list countless other racist things he’s done. When he’s out of office, we’ll go about restoring all the true history that a racist like Trump cannot handle. And there won’t be a damn thing he can do about it.*

„Medgar Evers was a man, of no particular race, who died for no particular reason.“

Conservatives have a fascinating relationship with history. They’re always lamenting change, longing to go back to traditional values, back when America was great.

Yet their “history” is not only fictional, it’s wildly inconsistent and malleable.

its all just division tactics for an endgame that isn’t good for the country. its cheap and easy to do and can be repeated infinite times. i hate this multiverse.

We need to be taking notes of all of these being removed so that the second this moron is gone we rebuild them twice as big

  11. When sanity is restored to our government, all of this information needs to be not just out back where it belongs – we need to make public and visible a note of the historic and racist motovation of these actions.

Like literally, we need to put plaques at all these sites that say something like:

“In 2026, this record of Black American history was targeted for removal by the administration of President Donald J. Trump as part of a state-sanctioned effort to erase public acknowledgment of racism and white supremacist violence in the United States.

These actions sought to distort collective memory by suppressing evidence of racial terror and systemic injustice. This marker endures as a refusal to forget, and as a reminder that truth, once named, cannot be erased.”

Just how much of our taxpayer dollars are we wasting on this attempt to distort history? Fuck this administration.
