You pay 30 Euro a month toward the total sum of your water consumption. End of the year you get the invoice according to your consumption after the meter has been read. It’s so you don get a 400-500 Euro bill once a year.
So, yes, you have to pay for your actual water consumption – did you ever doubt that??
Yes. So the 30€ payment is ”ennakko” meaning that its a pre-payment based on assumed or estimated volume, and now this invoice is ”tasaus” meaning they actually read the meter and charge you according to use.
And since you have used more than the assumed amount, you are 38€ short.
Most houses have appartment specific meters, some older houses don’t, in which case usually the house water bill is split per person.
Very normal. There it clearly states how much water you’ve used, how much it costs and your 30€ prepayments have been taken in the account. Nothing unjust here, you pay for what you use.
Yes, is normal. 30e per month is an estimation. I think every 6 months the water meters are read and the real consumption is found out. Then you have to pay the difference. For example i had to pay 500e difference, i take shower every day 🙂
The rates should be available from your municipality, as they own the water company. In Helsinki it’s HSY.
And yes, this is normal, the 30€ fee is the base fee, based on usual consumption for the number of occupants, and then the difference is charged or returned based on the actual consumption.
Yes you have to pay. The 30€ you play is an advance towards your water bill. On the otherside, how the F does one person consume that much water? You must enjoy long hot showers and those are not free.
I’ve noticed that many foreign people „lives“ in shower. Well, in Finland you can do that but you pay for it. So I think the bill is factual and you need to pay it.
So by a quick search an average finn uses 40-60 cubic meters of water per day (120-160litres).
That would add up to around 16000 m3 per year. And you have consumed around the same in just half a year. So it would mean that you do indeed use a lot of water.
Also if you use less water than that 30€ per month pays, when you get the adjustment billing, they will return you the money you overpaid.
Your estimated water cost (consumption) was 30€ per month. Your actual consumption was 36,40€
This is completely normal to get an adjustment once or twice a year and this is a small adjustment. Rather this way than paying too much up front.
Either you take long showers, or shower twice a day?
