Seeing as how even if you lived in the falken islands, it’s still tens of thousands of dollars to charter a trip to that continent and then you’re just stuck in a frozen land with no resources. You gotta be on a research team or the like, or wealthy enough travel on your own. Cold environments like this and Greenland are great for geo power, testing effects of weapons systems in cold and at the poles and keeping supercomputers at operating temps. Antarctica used to be connected via land bridge to Africa and South America. There are reasons to believe that there were once palm trees there and it was very habitable.
There is likely a large amount of our history buried under the ice.
