Call me crazy but I’m not sure “British Military Bases” is an ethnic group

I went to Cyprus a couple years ago and passing into the Northern Side in Nicosia was a very interesting experience.

    3. Bad title

But anyways, I know like, Cyprus technically doesn’t care (they have bigger fish to fry, whatever)

But like… I cannot even begin to say how much those British military bases piss me off. They take up SO much valuable land on Cyprus (something that is in very short supply), when they could be MUCH reduced in size and… really, they shouldn’t be foreign territory anyways, Cyprus should get that land, and Britain should just lease maybe 2 really dense bases somewhere in their former Cypriot territories.

It’s just such a weird waste of land I don’t understand

      >The Sovereign Base Areas were created in 1960 by the London and Zürich Agreements, when Cyprus achieved independence from the British Empire, as recorded by the United Nations in 1960 as treaty 5476.

      According to Wikipedia

Lots of violence til 1974. Not much after. Lately, news on „violence“ deals with assaults against refugees and tourists. Partitions are never perfect, but they can bring peace if properly enforced.

What the hell is Britain doing in Cyprus? They have nothing to do there anymore.

    7. So, what does this mean exactly? What’s a Cypriot? Did the two migrate to their respective regions naturally, or was it influenced somehow?

What is “majority X Cypriot” vs “X Cypriot”?

      Isn’t “X Cypriot” already implying a majority?

    9. How does it work with Cyprus being part of the European Union? Can Northern Cypriots get EU passports? Can they get EU subsidies?
