Wow Slovaks are significantly more Slavic than Czechs. It makes sense because the Czechs are in close proximity to Germans and Austrians. They also mixed with them. Many Czechs today have german surnames. I guess also the same for Slovenia. And why Bosnia and Croatia are more slavic than Serbia is because of religion and geography I suppose. Serbs are in close proximity to other orthodox people like Bulgarians, Macedonians and Montenegrins, Vlachs and mixed more with them. While Bosniaks (Muslims) and Croats (Catholics) remained mostly among themselves. Correct me if I’m wrong.

According to Ukrainian nationalists I’ve spoken to, this map must be wrong. They’re aryan decendants of vikings, and not related to the orcs from the east. /s

It would’ve been cool to see how it extends into Turkey, the slave raids of the ottoman empire must’ve created a lot of Slavic ancestry in turkish people

Can we please stop doing this „national genetics“ bullshit? It only provides dumb ethnic nationalism with „arguments“ that seem relevant to those who don’t think much.

I haven’t read it in detail, but this is from the abstract:

      >Here we present genome-wide data from 555 ancient individuals, including 359 samples from Slavic contexts from as early as the seventh century ce.

So it’s not modern day map?!

This map shows that original homeland of Slavs is the modern territory of Ukraine from there Slavic tribes went west, east, south and north. Wester boundary was Germanic tribes which Slavs called Nemci or Njemci. Southern expansion started after Roman Empire fell and especially after european invasion by the Huns.
