> The number of incumbents retiring or seeking other office this year, meanwhile, is outpacing other recent election cycles — and for the last four election cycles, the party that has a higher number of retirements has been an indicator of which party will be in the minority in the House after the election.

None of these cowards want a loss on their record, so they all plan to retire for now and write a book.

As a Nevadan, I really really can’t stand this guy. Complete party hack who backed everything Trump. He barely interacted with actual constituents preferring to hide behind horrible attack ads every two years then going back to D.C. to rubber-stamp all things Maga. I can’t say „Good riddance“ enough to this dork.

So a bunch of sniveling cowards think to scurry away in the corners hoping it will all blow over and maybe comeback later without the shit having been stuck to them personally. They have allowed this to happen and seek to disavow it now.

Do these idiots think the internet will somehow just forget who oversaw the spending used to snatch people from their homes, shoot Americans in the street, and blow up people in the middle of the ocean?
Sure. Jump ship. Good luck.

30 Republicans jumping ship feels like a retirement wave and more like the GOP leak season. Drafting their memoirs while the House majority feels like quicksand.

Usually the house total for retiring is 30-40 total, between both parties. This year we’re already over 50.
Very similar to 2018, which was also in the 50s, and a midterm election.

His district is actually only R+7 including 2024 when Nevada swung structurally hard for Trump. Rural Nevada sure but almost all the population lives in Washoe County. If his polling has that going in reverse, it’s potentially competitive.

I don’t see this is actually being good, these are all the old guard Republicans and they’re going to replace them with psycho maga people.

I live in his district. He won’t be missed. Never responds to emails, his staff stonewall phone calls and are needlessly rude about it, and you can hear Fox News blaring in the background if you call his Reno office. He doesn’t appear in public because he’s scared people will be mean to him. Even the vote red ride or die Republicans I’ve talked to here hate him. He’s great for the mining corporations and millionaire ranching corporations, but not us peasants. Sadly it’s an R+22 district so he’s going to be replaced by some rabid MAGA wack job. We had a state level politician try to introduce a barter system, she announced it by telling people they could bring a chicken to a doctor’s visit to pay for services.
The payment has not come due yet on everything this administration has wrecked. These guys don’t want to be there when shit starts really getting bad. Better to let someone else get the job and take the blame. People have limited attention spans and will blame the new guy for the old ones mess.

All I see is 30 cowards.
They could have chosen to stop this train at any stop of the way and they didn’t even try. either because of fear or because of greed, some for both reasons. They can pretend it’s to spend time with their families, but we all know they see this shit going bad in the midterms and they know they all have blame.
Either way I consider them traitors to this country and a disgrace to their constituents.
