Following my „How many Tanks does Russia have left video“ the most liked comment, was to analyze how much air defence Russia had left. This is that video, in the link below:
* Types of Russian AD
* Russian AD stocks until 2021
* Russian AD stocks visually confirmed damaged / destroyed
* Estimates & conclusion
If you found the above video interesting, you will likely also enjoy my analysis which looks at how many tanks Russia has left: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=519XMTijfCI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=519XMTijfCI)

As long as Ukraine’s air force does not fly over even their side of the frontline Russia still has way too many air defences left.

The thing is, most of the long range systems AA with radar guidance are getting hit by HARM (which we only know the Ukrainians are using because of one video showing it being launched) and it’s not unlikely that older stocks of anti radar missiles which had been retired having reached the „best before“ date such as ALARM have been provided and expended.
HARM, ALARM etc would simply home on the radar emitter and destroy it. There are never going to be photos of those getting hit so these visually confirmed losses represent the baseline minimum figures; actual losses will be much higher. The BUK losses are probably as a result of an ALARMing tenancy to attract HARM combined with being close enough to the front for it to be confirmed with recon drones.
The S300 or S400 systems are also comprised of missile batteries and so the Russians probably have an awful lot of missile batteries without radars left which are then only usable by networking to another radar source; such as AWACS or another missile battery.

And how much does ukraine have left? This nights volley of cruise missles basically completely slipped through the ukrainian air defense…
The russians have big attrition on their AA but they dont have to worry about long range cruise missles every night
