The left lost the civil war but managed to make Greece a bankrupt nation after their policy of skyrocketing the public debt in 1981-1993. The left didn’t manage to destroy Greece after ww2 so they gave it another shot 40 years later. Perhaps it would be better if they won back then, we would stop this psychosis with their economics like the former eastern bloc did
Samos and Crete were not pleces occupied by DSE but rather individual / small groups of communists hiding there.
There were also in Thassos and some other islands.
Most of the isolated ones secretly left for socialist countries where they were granted asylum , some died in the mounts and some killed but a few remained up there till the legalization of the communist party.
Surprising they lost considering Greece was almost completely surrounded by Soviet puppet regimes
The soviet union gave zero support, hence the Tito-Stalin falling off and later diss records
Modern greece is proof that austerity works
Greek communists are the real deal. To this day they are still the only relevant leftist force in Greece.
I thought red was Sparta and blue Athens?
It can’t be overstated how devastating and deeply divisive the civil war has been for Greece. Extreme hatred and violence was routine with over 1 million people (out of a total of 7) temporarily relocating during the war.
