    1. Good.

The more people quit Twitter, the better. Especially since other countries like France are investigating Elon for what he is doing with Grok, not just about what the bot is saying but also the illegal content.

I cannot in good faith use Twitter anymore, already deleted my account there since months ago, don’t know why I didn’t do so sooner. Predictably many people whining in comments about her quitting, why do they care that she’s making her exit?

      Excellent.

There’s no good reason for anyone (outside of maybe small content creators who have a network there) to be there anymore, and government accounts just lend a legitimacy to it that it hasn’t deserved in a long time.

It’s a massive net negative on society and we can’t kill it fast enough.

Maybe the one good thing that comes out of Musk destroying twitter will be that governments learn they can’t trust third parties like this.

    3. Also it’s owned by a Nazi who funds far right political movements all over Europe. It wasn’t just an empty gesture, he’s putting his money where his mensch is. Elon is still a Nazi criminal doing criminal Nazi stuff, that much hasn’t changed.

      FFS.

Finally some action on this. Now if all the other governments in Canada could get their ducks in a row, we’d be on a much better path.

Child porn people. That’s what X is creating and distributing. You want to be linked with that?!?!?

      Really?!?!?!?

Can we just make a website keeping track of governmental entities still on X? I feel like it could be cool to have a sort of interactive map doing this.

X is a major source of information for many people, seems short-sighted to eliminate it as a quick way of getting the word out entirely. Also much easier to use even if you don’t have an account than Facebook for example.

Awesome. I hope more provinces follow this. Twitter is a total hellscape. I’d also like to see us follow Australia’s lead and ban social media outright for kids 16 and under. If everyone knew and fully understood the (often permanent) damage it does to young minds they would demand a ban. We’re fucking up our kids.

if all the moderates and progressives leave X, is there a risk that it becomes a giant echo chamber for the far right and they become completely disconnected from reality and general society?

I think it’s absurd that many politicians and Government institutions use a privately hosted platform, where you must make an account to access the full information. Many time, especially for emergencies, the only way to get up-to-date information is to see it on twitter or facebook. Governments should at the very least use a publicly available/hosted website or establish an alternative.
