I mean…I guess, at least they’re consistent? But I can’t help but wonder if they had done their jobs better, earlier, that none of this would have been necessary.

I am surprised that the Supremes voted unanimously, even though the strategy for redistricting was basically determined by Thomas and his cronies. I just didn’t expect them to be consistent about it because the libs were doing it.

Of course they allowed it to proceed. Because if they threw it out they would have to throw out Texas and any of the other Republican states trying to extend their reach.

We can thank Gavin Newsom for fighting back and kicking some Republikan ass.

Our corporate democrats were nowhere to be found.

This actually worries me because it makes me think that they know it doesn’t matter or there is cheating about to happen or more Republican states are going to do similar etc

They know the fix is in for 2026 so they’re throwing California a bone.

blue states are cowardly for not ensuring supremacy on redistricting efforts. it’s not enough to do ceremonial tit for tat. every blue state should do what Texas did

….so what’s the catch here? I don’t believe anything good is going to come out of the SCJ decisions.

Anyone know if the Texas redistricting is still going through? I remember there was a chance it wasn’t actually going to apply, but I never heard about how that ended up.

All this means to me is that when it happens in other states-and it will, and right now I believe the GOP has control over more states than the non-fasc -they will let that happen too.

Keep the population dumb, simple, and constantly a victim. They will sign up for dumb wars to die by the millions while the leader and his robber barons steal billions. Russia 🇷🇺 and soon to be USA 🇺🇸

I think they’re fine with this because they figure if they let states like California and New York remain democratic and even strengthen the democratic hold on the state, they can gerrymander the swing states that actually determine the election outcome and use that to manipulate/control the outcomes while still claiming that we are in a democracy.

Also because they let Texas do this, if they say California can’t do it, it nullifies Texas and then other states- blue or red, can’t do it and they want red states to be able to do this. They’ve painted themselves into a corner where they can’t really say „only red states or states that could go red if redistricted can do this“ even though they clearly would like to.

It is fascinating how they’re trying to end democracy without ending it.

  13. Ok what’s going on here? Did someone forget to bribe/blackmail Alito and Thomas or what’s happening?

My guess is they were worried that if they didnt allow it, it would give the dems ammo to actually go after Gerrymandering for real

The court is solidly republican so seeing them do the right thing is very rare.

  16. They’re asking solid red states to put similar measures on their ballots so they can gerrymander more.
